We had a blast! Really it was so much more fun than I had expected. I went with next to zero plans....and if you know me on vacation that is not typical. I over plan and schedule to the minute to squeeze out every last bit of fun. I figured with low expectations we were bound to have a fantastic time.

Day one: Started with Philadelphia. We saw the liberty bell and toured two buildings that are part of the Independence Hall Area: the Supreme Court and Congress Hall.

We went to LOVE park and then played on the giant game pieces on the plaza across the street.


Next, was the Thompson's recreation of the Rocky movie. 

If the kids weren't beat after all the running, jumping and playing on the game pieces they were bound to be after running the stairs outside the art museum.

Exhausted, we headed back to uncle Billy's in Delaware with plans to maybe take a quick trip to the beach. 

Our initial beach visit turned out to be a horseshoe crab sanctuary. Sounds neat in theory but, unfortunately it was a less than desired beach. Maybe under other conditions its quiet lovely, after-all there were homes built on this beach. But, during our visit, crab carcasses littered the rocky beach and it was impossible to enter the water due to the muddy mass that flanked the bay. The kids were not deterred; they attempted to dig for sea turtle eggs (even though this wasn't the sea) search for shells and plead to trudge through the muck to enter the water.
