One of the reasons we went to Philadelphia when we did was to celebrate the fourth of July at the birthplace of our country. We figured the celebration would be INTENSE! We started our day with a parade.
The kids enjoyed some pre-parade schananigans
Our view was pretty typical for a parade without the candy of smaller town processions; the kids enjoyed it though snapping loads of video and pics with their I-pods.
Even Bryson enjoyed his first parade.
We took a break and returned for the evening for a concert and a flurry of fireworks.
Some of the rest of the photos were taken of the jumbo-tron we sat by. Although we could see the stage from the spot we chose on the street, we could not see the performers. We were right by that first jumbo-tron. The four lane road leading to/from the art museum was peppered with people. At one point there was a path for people to walk down the middle but soon there were just people.
We woke the middle ones for the fireworks. The show was dubbed "grand finale fireworks" there was not a typical "finale" as the entire show was just an explosion of epic fireworks from the get go. Braeden, our resident firework extraordinaire, was in awe....he videotaped the entire 15 minute extravaganza! I was a bit worried that he'd feel cheated out of lighting fireworks of his own but he described the experience as "AWESOME!"
