Brian and the kids went to the zoo and had all sorts of interesting experiences. First off they had an animal encounter at the learning center---they were the only ones there so were able to choose what to interact with. Since they have been looking diligently on our recent road excursions in hopes of finding and capturing a box turtle to domesticate; the obvious choice today was to see the turtles.
The lions were alert and engaging.
The male was roaring and batting at the kids behind the glass.
Alexis was beside herself...saying "Zuba not nice" and running for the protection of her father while urging her brothers to get away as well. (Zuba is in reference to the mean lion from the movie Madagascar 2).
They saw the gorillas and when Alexis was getting wet by the water misters she demanded "get me out of this jungle."
They watched the elephants get a bath, made trips through the rainforest and amphibian buildings and monkey'd around on the playground.
The zoo is always a hit---we are thankful to live so close to a Fantastic one!
